1891 - Buxton Lime Firms (BLF) was formed in 1891, following the amalgamation of 14 lime and limestone companies operating in the Buxton area.
1895 - 1915. - Between 1895 and 1915 a further nine quarries were started or bought, cementing the company’s dominant position in the UK market.
1926 - 1929 - BLF became part of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in 1926, and the development of Tunstead, the largest limestone quarry in the UK, began in 1929.
2015 - The business was acquired by CRH Plc, and has operations in Germany, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Poland
2024 - SigmaRoc PLC purchases the Buxton manufacturing plants. SigmaRoc PLC is a specialist quarrying group that invests, improves, integrates and innovates companies within the quarried materials space in Europe.
