We are currently looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson  to join our Tunstead Plant.  This role is easily commutable from Buxton, Sheffield, Stockport, Chesterfield, Macclesfield, Mansfield and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervior, as our Mechanical Craftsperson, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled planned and reactive mechanical activities to maintain plant condition and performance and to deliver daily and weekly maintenance schedules. You will also monitor and maintain condition and performance of all associated fixed assets and associated mechanical equipment and identify any circumstances that could result in an impact on operational reliability or performance.

Your responsibilities as the Mechanical Craftsperson will include:

  • Working in a safe manner, ensuring the Health & Safety of yourself and others
  • Comply with and be actively involved in Buxton Lime SHE Procedures
  • Support the operation of processing plants and react to any performance or availability issues as advised by Line Manager
  • Carry out scheduled, planned and reactive mechanical tasks and report the expected detail to Maintenance department as required
  • Carry out fault finding diagnostics and any repairs to support meeting outputs and achieving the schedule
  • Complete reports detailing any activities competed and any problems encountered with plant or equipment
  • Report all engineering / maintenance / repair activities to Shift Supervisor including actual times taken and materials used to allow adequate inputs to CMMS
  • Contribute mechanical aspect of any RCA reports where significant downtime has occurred
  • Maintain operability and accuracy of plant and equipment by carrying out defined mechanical work within shift team capabilities
  • Carry out schedule / planned maintenance activities in line with weekly schedule
  • Take lead in the commissioning of any new plant or equipment as required after significant delays or equipment changes
  • Provide assistance and support in non-mechanical areas as directed by Line Manager to support the compliance with targets and delivery of schedule adherence
  • These accountabilities are not an exhaustive list of duties and the Mechanical Craftsperson will undertake any reasonable request from their line manager of above

The role of  Mechanical Craftsperson  is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires:

  • Essential – Time Served Mechanical Tradesman

–  HNC / HNC Mechanical Engineering

  • Desirable – NVQ Level 2 – Process Operations
  • Experience in a similar process  / chemical plant maintenance environment within a heavy engineering business
  • Good knowledge of Material handling and processing equipment including Conveying, Screening, Crushing and Loading
  • Fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action
  • Good practical knowledge and experience of maintenance systems required
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly
  • Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
  • Working knowledge of plant and machinery
  • Use of PC’s and capability to use common applications and company systems
  • Basic report writing

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Electrical lead, as our Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for undertaking plant maintenance, repairs and improvements to ensure maximum reliability of all plant associated areas and to assist team members in all aspects of plant operation.

Your responsibilities as the Maintenance Electrician will include:

  • Respond to plant breakdowns, when necessary and be responsible for the correct and efficient repair of equipment keeping downtime to a minimum with timely and safe adherence to the maintenance plan whilst complying to all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental standards,
  • Continue to improve plant performance whilst maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability,
  • Contribute to the in-house development of the Computer Maintenance Management System,
  • In support of the maintenance and operations functions, you will utilise documents, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated guidelines for the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment within the Electrical Engineering department as appropriate.

The role of  Maintenance Electrician  is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires:

  • ESSENTIAL – Level 3 Apprentice trained Electrician and  ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering,
  • 17th Edition – BS7671 I.E.E Regulations and Legislation as a minimum, with 18th Edition preferred,
  • Have experience of TPM methodology and Continuous Improvement,
  • Working knowledge of relevant electrical and control engineering maintenance principles and practices, and experience of working in a relevant heavy engineering industry,
  • Working knowledge and experience of Industrial Low Voltage power distribution systems,
  • A good working understanding of PLC’s and the use of the associated tools and techniques for the interrogation of the software,
  • Knowledge and understanding the operation of AC Drives and Motors,
  • Knowledgeable in Predictive Maintenance,
  • Experience in working with a Computer Maintenance Management System,
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis tools/techniques,
  • Understands database systems as relevant to planned maintenance and logging of shift activities,
  • Able to design simple electrical systems and draw schematic diagrams then transfer the information into practical use,
  • Know how to perform electrical statutory tests and inspections and understand safe use of electrical test and measuring instruments,
  • An understanding of mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics and understand National and International codes and symbols used on drawings and specifications,
  • Ability to learn Health and Safety rules applicable to each department regarding their own and other operators’ safety.
